Having met on Myspace in January 2008 a direct, intensive and creative collaboration has begun between Jan Vogedes, guitarist and sound designer from Dortmund and singer/songwriter Nic Koray from Mülheim.
Immediately new songs were created by Jan’s subtle artistic craft or developed from Nic’s acoustic repertoire. Jan’s talent of composing complex and emotionally laden soundscapes was met by Nic’s gift to be able to take on emotions directly and to transform them into expressive melody and imaginative lyrics.
Thus it was easy for the two of them to begin recording immediately in Jan’s small studio. Jan and Nic are intuitively and devotedly creating a colour of music that maybe can be described best with “ELECTRIP”. Where bands like Lamb or Frou Frou left a gap in the late 90s and early 20ths, Monocular redefined the sound and set new standards in developing their complex music by connecting charismatic vocals with entrancing soundscapes.
Playing live they are supported by the awesome musicians Sven Kosakowski on drums and David Senf on bass.
The debut album “SOMEWHERE ON THE LINE” including 13 songs - impressively skilled, deep and full of variety - will be released via VierSieben Records in April 2009.
